Ancient Sheikah Rune  Β·  Hyrulean Compendium

πŸ“· What Is the Camera?

The Camera rune is unlocked after the Great Plateau and allows Link to photograph anything in Hyrule. Photos are stored in the Hyrule Compendium β€” a comprehensive catalogue of every monster, material, weapon, treasure, and creature in the world. Entries unlock the ability to use Sensor+ to track that item.

πŸ—ΊοΈ Where to Obtain It

The Camera is obtained from Purah at Hateno Ancient Tech Lab after getting the Locked Mementos main quest. Purah can also upgrade the Sheikah Slate in many ways like bomb +, stasis +, and of course Sensor+.

πŸ“– Hyrule Compendium

  • Photograph enemies to log their weaknesses and drop rates.
  • Capture materials to identify their cooking and upgrade uses.
  • Log weapons and shields to track their locations across Hyrule.
  • Complete the compendium to earn a Korok Seed reward from Symin.

πŸ” Sensor & Sensor+

  • Sensor beeps when a photographed Sheikah Tower or shrine is nearby.
  • Sensor+ (upgraded by Purah) lets you track any compendium entry.
  • Point toward a tracked item's direction using the beep frequency.
  • Invaluable for hunting rare materials, Star Fragments, and weapons.

🌍 Exploration Uses

  • Photograph Koroks β€” they appear as golden leaves before being found.
  • Snap pictures of location landmarks for your personal record.
  • Use photos to identify unfamiliar ingredients before cooking.
  • Capture NPCs for fun β€” some have unique reactions to being photographed.

⚑ Tips & Tricks

  • Buy missing compendium entries from Robbie at Akkala Ancient Tech Lab.
  • Photograph enemies before defeating them β€” you lose the chance after.
  • Use Sensor+ set to Star Fragments at night to track them as they fall.
  • Set Sensor+ to Dragon parts when hunting Farosh, Dinraal, or Naydra.
Champion's Tip: If you missed photographing an enemy or creature, visit Robbie at Akkala Ancient Tech Lab β€” he sells any missing compendium entry for rupees. Completing the full compendium is worth it: Sensor+ turns the entire map into a treasure-hunting tool.
