Magnesis
Ancient Sheikah Rune · Magnetic Manipulation
⚙️ What Is Magnesis?
Magnesis is one of the four runes inscribed into the Sheikah Slate by the ancient
Sheikah civilisation. It grants the bearer the ability to generate a powerful
magnetic field, allowing them to lift and move metallic objects with precision —
even across water or over obstacles that would otherwise be impassable.
🗺️ Where to Obtain It
The rune is awarded upon completing the Oman Au Shrine — the
Magnesis Trial — located on the Great Plateau, one of the very first areas Link
explores after waking from the Shrine of Resurrection.
⚔️ Combat Uses
- Hurl metal weapons at enemies.
- Slam heavy metal crates into groups of enemies.
- Disarm enemies carrying metal weapons by pulling them away.
🧩 Puzzle Uses
- Move metal platforms to create bridges or stepping stones.
- Pull metal plugs to redirect water flows.
- Slide metal blocks along rails inside shrines.
- Retrieve items that have fallen into water or off ledges.
🌍 Exploration Uses
- Lift metal doors and hatches to access hidden areas.
- Uncover buried metal chests scattered across Hyrule.
- Use large metal slabs as makeshift rafts or platforms.
- Move ore deposits to reveal passages underneath.
⚡ Power & Limitations
- Only affects ferromagnetic (iron/steel) objects.
- Cannot move wooden, stone, or organic materials.
- Effective range is roughly ten metres from Link.
- Heavy objects move more slowly but hit harder when thrown.
Champion's Tip: Metal objects highlighted in pink are within
Magnesis range. Look for glowing outlines on chests, doors, and platforms — there may be
a hidden treasure or shortcut waiting just beneath the surface of a lake or buried under
a thin layer of soil.
You can also use Magnesis to carry metal objects above your head, allowing you to gain shade in hot areas or in the Gerudo Desert.
