Recall in Tears of the Kingdom

⏪ What Is Recall?

Recall reverses the movement history of a targeted object, sending it backwards along the exact path it recently travelled. The object glows golden and rewinds in time while the world continues normally. This turns any moving object — a falling rock, a rolling boulder, a flying projectile — into a controllable platform or weapon.

🗺️ Where to Obtain It

Recall is obtained on the Great Sky Island at the start of Tears of the Kingdom. It is one of the four abilities restored to Link before he can leave the tutorial area and descend to Hyrule.

🧩 Puzzle Uses

  • Ride boulders that fell from Sky Islands back up to their origin.
  • Reverse a failed build so it doesn't despawn.
  • Send a launched projectile back toward its source.
  • Rewind moving platforms floating in shrine puzzles.

🌍 Exploration Uses

  • Ride falling debris back up to reach high Sky Island platforms.
  • Undo an object you accidentally moved with Ultrahand.
  • Return a runaway minecart to a useful position on a track.

⚔️ Combat Uses

  • Reverse the thrown projectiles to hit the enemy.
  • Send Zonai device that had ran out of range back to its origin.
  • Rewind a boomerang for extra hits and damage.
  • Use recalled boulders as instant aerial strikes on enemies below.

⚡ Tips & Tricks

  • Objects only rewind as far back as their recent movement history allows.
  • Combine with Ultrahand — move an object, then Recall it for free transport.
  • Stars and meteors can be Recalled as they fall for a high-altitude ride.
  • Recalled objects keep full momentum on release — time it for maximum impact.
Champion's Tip: On the Great Sky Island and other sky archipelagos, look for large rocks that have recently tumbled off ledges. Activate Recall on them and ride them all the way back up — it's the fastest way to gain altitude without spending stamina or building a vehicle.
