Stasis rune

Stasis

Ancient Sheikah Rune  ·  Temporal Suspension

⏸️ What Is Stasis?

Stasis is one of the four runes of the Sheikah Slate. It suspends a target object completely in time, locking it in place while the world continues around it. During the freeze, kinetic energy can be applied to the object — which is then released all at once when Stasis wears off, launching the object with tremendous force.

🗺️ Where to Obtain It

Stasis is awarded upon clearing the Owa Daim Shrine — the Stasis Trial — located on the Great Plateau. It is one of the four runes Link must collect before he can leave the Plateau and begin his journey across Hyrule.

⚔️ Combat Uses

  • Freeze a Guardian and strike it repeatedly to send it flying.
  • Lock a Lynel or Moblin in place to land free hits safely.
  • Freeze an incoming boulder and charge the kinetic energy before redirecting it.
  • Suspend projectiles mid-air to create a moment to dodge or counter.

🧩 Puzzle Uses

  • Freeze spinning mechanisms to hold them at the correct angle.
  • Stop swinging pendulums long enough to cross safely.
  • Lock moving platforms at a convenient position to jump on.
  • Accumulate strikes on an object to send it in a precise direction.

🌍 Exploration Uses

  • Freeze boulders rolling off ledges to create temporary stepping stones.
  • Stop a fast-moving log or raft long enough to board it.
  • Halt falling debris to pass underneath safely.
  • Freeze an enemy mid-leap to avoid damage and reposition.

⚡ Power & Limitations

  • Can only target non-living objects — enemies are unaffected in BotW.
  • Stasis+ (upgraded) allows freezing living enemies as well.
  • The freeze duration is fixed — plan your strikes carefully.
  • Striking the frozen object in different directions affects the launch angle.
Champion's Tip: When an object is frozen it glows amber-orange. Hit it multiple times with the heaviest weapon you have — each blow accumulates kinetic energy. Aim your final strike in the direction you want the object to travel when time resumes for maximum distance and damage.
